Data Warehouse

Ed Miniat, Inc. (EMI) prepares, cooks, and ships fine meat products for restaurants, food manufacturers, and other institutions. EMI leverages an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to manage their business; however, they had a need to take snapshots of data at specific points of time and conduct analytics at those points and aggregated over a long period of time. Travant defined and implemented a data warehouse to capture commodity costs, operating costs, recipe formulas, pricing, sales, and other pertinent data.

Database Performance Tuning

Ed Miniat, Inc. (EMI) prepares, cooks, and ships fine meat products for restaurants, food manufacturers, and other institutions. EMI had an established implementation of their ERP system in a Microsoft SQL Server database environment. Over the course of time, various database queries that were used to facilitate certain system extensions, reports, and spreadsheets had experienced substantial performance decreases. Furthermore, these queries would slow the ERP transactional system when executing. Travant reviewed the queries, table indexes, and configuration of SQL Server. Travant then implemented enhancements in these areas, which substantially improved performance.

Research and Development Product System (RDPS)

Ed Miniat, Inc. (EMI) prepares, cooks, and ships fine meat products for restaurants, food manufacturers, and other institutions. A key part of EMI's business model is to research new recipes for nutritional value and desired taste to meet the needs of their customers. EMI conducts projects to facilitate those efforts, and they produce sample for their customers in the process. They had been tracking this information in a variety of internal Access databases, spreadsheets, email, and other documents. Travant constructed the RDPS software application for EMI to manage their research projects and associated samples. EMI now has a central location that is available across the enterprise to view and update activities on research projects, and track and provide analytics for food samples.
